To Sash - Or Not To Sash

I could go on and on about the 6.5" x 8.5" block dimensions and how adding a 1.5" strip of black to each block would make them 8.5" s 8.5" and how I have 80 blocks so far and how I need to use my EQ software to figure out sizes with and without sashing and setting these blocks ad infinitium ad nauseum. But these two tentative layouts speak for themselves. Just need to decide which look I want to go for...

Here's to 2012!

I like them both but I'm leaning toward the softer look without the sashing.

I agree with Carol G - I like the softer look without the sashing. I would also split up the pairs and mix them up a bit - just my personal preference, though. Do what makes YOU happy!! ;))

Definitely sash! I love the basketweave effect it yields!

I like the sashing effect. It really gives each block a chance to shine.

How about a wending black sashing...it doesn't have to be around each block...allowing some blocks to connect making larger spaces of batiks....

So far I'm leaning towards some kind of sashing - I know it creates a more dramatic, harsher look. I'm going to try Sue's idea soon and experiment with sashing. Bottom line: I do love the basketweave effect. Thanks so much for weighing in on this.
